Wood windows
Dried-out putty lets glass rattle and water creep in. Paint fails first at the bottom rail and sill, where sun and snowmelt hit hardest, and soft wood follows. We remove the failed putty, reset loose panes, cut out rot and splice in new wood where needed, then prime and paint so the repair lasts.

Doors

Can you add insulated glass to our old wood windows?
Sometimes. If the sash is thick enough to take a slim insulated unit, we can retrofit one. If not, an interior storm panel is another way to cut drafts while keeping the original window.
Why does our front door stick only part of the year?
Wood doors and earthen walls both move with changes in moisture and temperature. We fit the door with enough clearance for those changes and seal the gaps with weatherstripping rather than a tight frame.
