Fixing the windows and sliders in a Rancho Viejo home

Not every tired window needs replacing. In newer homes like these, a stuck slider or a single fogged pane is often a parts-and-labor fix. We'll tell you plainly which openings are worth repairing and which have reached the end.

Check for a warranty first

Some original windows and doors in newer neighborhoods still carry a manufacturer warranty on the glass or the frame. If you have the paperwork, dig it out. If not, the brand is often printed on the spacer between the panes or on a label in the frame, and we can help you find it during the visit.

Where a warranty applies, we'll tell you so rather than charging for work the manufacturer may cover.

When we'd suggest replacing instead

  • Several fogged panes in the same window, or across the house
  • Warped or cracked frames that won't seal again
  • Discontinued sliders with no parts that fit
  • Repairs that would cost close to a new unit

Rancho Viejo repair questions

Can you replace just the glass in a fogged vinyl window?

Usually. We measure the glass unit, order a new one with the right thickness and coating, and set it in the existing frame. If the frame itself is failing, new glass isn't worth it and we'll say so.

Is a grinding patio door worth fixing?

Most of the time. New rollers and a cleaned track make a big difference for a modest cost. If the panel is bent or the frame has warped, replacing the door makes more sense.

Do you have a minimum job size for repairs?

We'll quote a single repair. If you have several small problems, bundling them into one visit keeps the cost per fix down.

Tell us what's sticking, fogging or rattling.

We'll diagnose it on the first visit and give you a repair price, or an honest reason to replace.
