Window styles

Find the right style for each opening

Most homes use a mix. We'll recommend styles based on how each room is used, which way it faces, and what fits the look of your house.

Double-hung

Both sashes slide up and down, and many tilt in for easy cleaning. A classic look for Territorial and traditional homes.

Bedrooms & living rooms

Casement

Hinged on the side and opened with a crank. When closed, the sash presses against the weatherstripping for a tight seal against wind.

Windy sides & hard-to-reach spots

Sliding

One sash glides sideways. Simple and affordable, and a common upgrade for the old aluminum sliders in many Santa Fe homes.

Wide, short openings

Picture

A fixed window that doesn't open: the most glass and the best view, with nothing to wear out. Ideal for mountain or sunset views.

Views & natural light

Awning

Hinged at the top and opening outward, so you can get some airflow during a light rain. Often paired above or below a picture window.

Ventilation

Bay & bow

Three or more windows that project outward, adding space, light and a sitting nook. Structural support is planned for each one.

Living & dining rooms

Custom shapes & arched

Arches, half-rounds, trapezoids and other custom shapes, made to match existing openings in adobe, Pueblo Revival and custom homes.

Made to measure

Need a door too?

We replace entry doors, sliding patio doors and French doors, usually on the same visit as your windows.

What happens on install day

  • We protect floors and furniture near each opening
  • Old sashes and frames come out carefully, with minimal damage to plaster and stucco
  • New windows are set level and square, shimmed, insulated and sealed
  • Interior trim, sills and exterior sealant are finished
  • We test every window, clean up, and haul away the old ones

Insert or full-frame?

Insert (pocket) replacement fits a new window into the existing frame. It's faster and disturbs less plaster and stucco, as long as the old frame is solid and square.

Full-frame replacement removes everything down to the rough opening. It's the right call when frames are rotted, out of square, or when you want to change the size or style.

We'll check each opening and tell you which method fits. Many homes use both.
